Venerable Zeno the Prophet
? — ок. 451
Venerable Zeno the Prophet (d. c. 451) — a Palestinian ascetic, disciple of St. Hilarion the Great, renowned for the gift of clairvoyance and prophecy.
Venerable Zeno the Prophet (or Clairvoyant) labored in Palestine in the 5th century as a disciple and companion of St. Hilarion the Great, one of the founders of Palestinian monasticism. He led a long ascetic life of fasting, prayer, and bodily labor, acquiring, according to hagiographical tradition, the gift of clairvoyance and foreknowledge of the future, for which he received his epithet. He died at a great age around 451. He is distinct from Venerable Zeno the Hermit, disciple of Abba Silvanus (separate entry).
