Martyr
Martyr Zosimus of Spoleto
III век
Martyr Zosimus of Spoleto (3rd c.) — venerated in both Western and Eastern tradition; suffered for Christ in Italy.
Martyr Zosimus of Spoleto suffered for Christ in the region of Spoleto, Umbria, central Italy, presumably in the 3rd century, during one of the periods of persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire. His veneration survives in a dual tradition — both in Western (Latin) hagiography and in Eastern menologia, where his memory entered, likely through an early Greek borrowing of Italian martyr accounts. The details of his suffering are sparsely recorded in the sources; what is reliably attested is the fact of his martyrdom and his veneration in the church calendar.
