Synaxis Synaxis of the Saints of Vladimir
Synaxis of the Saints of Vladimir (June 23/July 6) — a joint commemoration of ascetics whose lives are connected with the Vladimir land, observed on the same day as the Meeting of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God.
The Synaxis of the Saints of Vladimir is celebrated on June 23 (July 6) — the same day as the church feast of the Meeting of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God, commemorating the deliverance of Moscow from the invasion of Khan Akhmat in 1480. On this day the Church commemorates together all the ascetics of piety whose lives and service are connected with the Vladimir-Suzdal land — the ancient center of northeastern Rus: holy princes, hierarchs of the Vladimir and Suzdal sees, venerable founders of local monasteries, and ascetics whose labors formed the spiritual foundation of the Vladimir region. The feast unites the veneration of local saints into a single joint celebration, underscoring the continuity of the region's spiritual tradition from the pre-Mongol era to modern times.
