Synaxis of saints
Synaxis Synaxis of the Saints of Vyatka
Synaxis of the Saints of Vyatka, established in 1979 — a joint commemoration of ascetics who shone forth in the Vyatka (Kirov) land.
The Synaxis of the Saints of Vyatka was established in 1979 in honor of the ascetics of piety who shone forth in the Vyatka (now Kirov) land — a region whose settlement and spiritual enlightenment was carried out by Russian settlers and missionaries from the 12th century onward. The Synaxis glorifies local hierarchs of the Vyatka see, venerable founders of Vyatka monasteries, and 20th-century new martyrs who suffered in this land during the years of persecution. The feast is intended to demonstrate the unbroken continuity of the region's spiritual tradition from the time of its Christianization to the recent history of the Russian Church.
