Synaxis of the Saints of Yaroslavl, established in 1984 — a joint commemoration of ascetics connected with the Yaroslavl land, one of the most ancient centers of Christianity in Rus.
The Synaxis of the Saints of Yaroslavl was established in 1984 in honor of the many ascetics connected with the ancient Yaroslavl land — one of the oldest centers of Christianity in northeastern Rus, founded already in the early 11th century by the holy Prince Yaroslav the Wise. The Synaxis glorifies the memory of the blessed princes of Yaroslavl (among them Sts. Theodore, David, and Constantine of Yaroslavl and Smolensk, whose relics rest in the Yaroslavl Savior Monastery), local hierarchs, venerable founders of the region's monasteries, and fools-for-Christ who labored in the Yaroslavl land over the centuries.
