Forefather Zebulun

Forefather Zebulun — the tenth son of the Patriarch Jacob, ancestor of one of the twelve tribes of Israel.
Forefather Zebulun was the tenth son of the Patriarch Jacob and the sixth by his wife Leah (Gen. 30:19-20). He became the ancestor of one of the twelve tribes of Israel, which received an inheritance in the northern part of the Promised Land, in the region of Galilee. In his deathbed prophetic blessing of his sons, the Patriarch Jacob foretold that the tribe of Zebulun would dwell by the seashore and be a haven for ships (Gen. 49:13). The Church honors the memory of Forefather Zebulun among the forefathers of ancient Israel on the Sunday of the Holy Forefathers — the Sunday preceding the Nativity of Christ, glorifying the Old Testament righteous as ancestors of Christ according to the flesh and forerunners of His coming.
