Martyr Zeno of Melitene

? — ок. 311/312

Martyr Zeno of Melitene (d. c. 311/312) — suffered for Christ in Melitene, Armenia, together with Martyrs Eudoxius and Macarius; distinct from the Forty Martyrs of Sebaste.

Martyr Zeno suffered for Christ in the city of Melitene, Armenia, around 311-312, during the reign of Emperor Maximinus Daza, together with the martyrs Eudoxius and Macarius. According to their Life, all three were soldiers who refused to offer sacrifice to the pagan gods, for which they were put to death after cruel torture. Cross-checking of church menologia confirms that Martyr Zeno of Melitene is distinct from the participants in the Forty Martyrs of Sebaste (commemorated March 9/22), despite the similarity of name to other martyrs of the period; he belongs to a separate group of martyrs who suffered at Melitene.
