On 11 October 2019, the day when the Church honors the memory of Venerable Chariton the Confessor, the Venerable Fathers of the Kiev Caves, Venerable Cyril and Maria, the parents of Venerable Sergius of Radonezh, and also Venerable Martyr Elisabeth Feodorovna, the head of the Central Asian Metropolitan District, Metropolitan Vikenty of Tashkent and Uzbekistan, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity St. Nicholas Convent in Tashkent. On the eve, the archpastor celebrated the prescribed evening service here as well.

Concelebrating with His Eminence were Archpriest Ioann Kuleshov, Deacon Valery Ryzhov and Deacon Mikhail Mezhovikov.

Praying at the services were the abbess of the convent, Hegumenia Ekaterina (Malgina), and the sisters of the holy community.

At the end of the Liturgy, the archpastor addressed the worshippers with his archpastoral word:

"Today the Holy Church honors the memory of Venerable Chariton the Confessor, who showed us an example of Christian life, trusting in the mercy of God and surrendering himself entirely to God's good will. When he set out for the Holy Places, robbers bound him, began to beat him and shut him in a cave, and there he prayed that the will of God might be revealed. And then these same robbers were killed by poison in that same cave. A serpent that had drunk wine from a jug let its venom into it. When they came to the jug, they drank from it, and all of them died. And Venerable Chariton, freed from them and from death, continued his life as a desert-dweller here, in this cave. In this way he discerned God's good will for himself. Though he had been thinking of something else, the Lord called him to a special ascetic life. He founded several monasteries there. Around him a multitude of monks found salvation, laboring in the hermit's life."

In his sermon His Eminence also spoke about the finding of the incorrupt relics of Venerable Martyr Elisabeth Feodorovna, who suffered in Alapaevsk in 1918, when atheists threw her alive into a deep mine shaft and then hurled grenades into it. Yet for some time she remained alive.

"She prayed and glorified God. This too is a great example for us: in all the circumstances of our life, even the most tragic, we must glorify God, and the Lord will not forsake us, because through difficulties, trials and thanksgiving to God, the Lord gives us great joy in the Kingdom of God."
