Hegumen Ambrose of Nikolo-Ugresha

EDITORIAL NOTE: the only historical hieromonk Ambrose found in connection with the Nikolo-Ugreshsky Monastery is its hegumen from 1819 to 1821 (before that, in 1815, he was transferred to the position of sacristan of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra; in 1803–1814 he administered the monastery). He remained at the monastery during the French invasion of 1812, when an enemy detachment was stationed within its walls. However, no source found confirms his church glorification as a saint — he is a historical monastery superior, not a canonized ascetic. A "Synaxis of Ugresha Saints" also exists, but a direct link between this hegumen and that synaxis could not be confirmed.
