Hieromartyr Linus, Apostle of the Seventy — the second Bishop of Rome, the immediate successor of Apostle Peter on this see; mentioned by Apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 4:21.
Hieromartyr Linus, Apostle of the Seventy, is mentioned by Apostle Paul in the Second Epistle to Timothy: "Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren" (2 Timothy 4:21). He became the successor of Apostle Peter on the See of Rome, being the second Bishop of Rome (ca. 64/67–76/79). According to tradition, he received the crown of martyrdom. His memory is kept on November 5/18 together with the Apostles of the Seventy Patrobas, Gaius, Philologus, and Hermas, as well as January 4/17 in the Synaxis of the Seventy Apostles.
