Synaxis of Belarusian Saints — a feast established on the initiative of Metropolitan Filaret (Vakhromeev) of Minsk and Belarus on April 3, 1984; celebrated on the 3rd Sunday after Pentecost and uniting the memory of ascetics whose lives and ministry were connected to the historical territory of Belarus; it originally included 13 servants of God, and the list has since grown to around 80 names.
The Synaxis of Belarusian Saints was established on the initiative of Metropolitan Filaret (Vakhromeev) of Minsk and Belarus on April 3, 1984. The feast unites the memory of numerous saints whose lives, ascetic labor, or ministry were connected to the historical territory of modern Belarus — from ancient princes and holy women (Equal-to-the-Apostles Euphrosyne of Polotsk, Hierarch Cyril of Turov) to the New Martyrs and Confessors of the 20th century. The Synaxis originally included 13 servants of God; over more than forty years of the feast's existence, the list has grown to around 80 names as further research and canonizations have taken place. The celebration is held annually on the 3rd Sunday after Pentecost (Trinity) — a movable date depending on the date of Pascha.
