Martyr Dorymedon of Synnada (Phrygia)

Martyr Dorymedon of Synnada — the chief counselor (senator) of the city of Synnada in Phrygia, a secret Christian who visited the martyr Trophimus in prison, tending to his wounds; upon being exposed, he refused to renounce Christ, openly confessed his faith during a pagan festival, and after cruel torments suffered a martyr's death together with the martyrs Trophimus and Sabbatius under Emperor Probus (276-282).
In the city of Synnada in Phrygia there lived the city's chief counselor (senator) named Dorymedon — a pious Christian who concealed his faith out of fear of the persecutors. Learning that the martyr Trophimus, seized for confessing Christ, was being held in prison, Dorymedon began secretly visiting him, washing and bandaging his wounds from torture. When the persecutors learned of this, they forced St. Dorymedon to renounce Christianity, but he refused, and he was then thrown to be devoured by wild beasts together with St. Trophimus. Later, during a pagan festival, Dorymedon openly confessed himself a Christian, for which he was seized and subjected to terrible torments. He suffered for Christ together with the martyrs Trophimus and Sabbatius during the reign of the Roman emperor Probus (276-282). His memory is kept on September 19/October 2.
