Hieromartyrs Alexander, Alexander, Valentine, Benjamin, Victor and those with them, Presbyters of Perm

On 7 (20) June the Church commemorates Hieromartyr Andronicus (Nikolsky), Archbishop of Perm, killed in June 1918, and with him a group of priests and laymen of the Perm diocese who suffered at the hands of the Bolsheviks the same year. Because the exact dates of death of some of them are unknown, they are remembered on the day of the diocese's first martyred bishop.

The current calendar lists the Hieromartyrs Alexander Makhetov, Alexander Osetrov, Valentine Belov, Benjamin Lukanin, Victor Nikiforov, Alexander Preobrazhensky, Vladimir Belozerov, Ignatius Yakimov, Michael Denisov, Nicholas Onyanov, Paul Sokolov, Nicholas Rozhdestvensky and Nicholas Konyukhov, presbyters, and the Martyr Alexander Zuev. Those whose lives are known were rural or district priests and teachers of religion. According to their lives, Archpriest Alexander Preobrazhensky was shot at Usolye in September 1918, dying in prayer with a cross in his hand; Fr Alexander Makhetov was nailed by one hand, stabbed with bayonets and shot in the autumn of 1918; Archpriest Nicholas Konyukhov of Cherdyn Cathedral was shot near Yurla in December 1918; Fr Valentine Belov, ordained in December 1918, was cut down with sabres and shot the same month.
