Martyr Evarestus — one of the Ten Martyrs of Crete, who suffered at Heraklion under Emperor Decius; the database slug "Arestus" appears to be a truncated transliteration of "Evarestus," as confirmed by the entry's image.
No saint literally named "Arestus" is attested in the Orthodox calendar. The image attached to this entry (sourced from pravicon.com) in fact depicts Martyr Evarestus of Crete, one of the "Ten Martyrs of Crete" (Theodulus, Saturninus, Euporus, Gelasius, Eunicianus, Zoticus, Pompeius, Agathopus, Basilides, and Evarestus), who suffered in the 3rd century under Emperor Decius.
The likeliest explanation is that "Arestus" is a truncated transliteration of "Evarestus" (the initial "E-" dropped). Evarestus came from Heraklion; with nine other Cretan Christians he was tried before the island's governor, endured thirty days of torture, and was beheaded.
The group's feast is kept on December 23/January 5.
