Martyr Felicitas of Rome — a pious widow whose seven sons were put to death in different ways before her eyes under Emperor Antoninus, while she herself, strengthening them in the faith, was executed last.
Martyr Felicitas (Felicity) of Rome was a pious, wealthy Roman widow with seven sons — Januarius, Felix, Philip, Silvanus, Alexander, Vitalis, and Martial.
Accused by pagan priests of "dishonoring the gods" through her Christian preaching, she distributed her wealth to the poor and openly confessed her faith with her sons. Under Emperor Antoninus (traditionally Antoninus Pius, though some sources place it under Marcus Aurelius), c. 150–164 AD, each son was martyred in a different manner before her eyes, and Felicitas herself — having prayed that her sons would remain steadfast — was beheaded last.
Her feast is kept on January 25/February 7.
