Venerable Paul of Tammah (Coptic)

IMPORTANT CORRECTION: the previous date "February 12" was not confirmed by any source and has been replaced with the correct Coptic date (7 Baba = October 4/17). It is also clarified that the connection to St. Pachomius the Great, assumed during the card's initial processing, is not supported by sources — the late-life friendship recorded in tradition was not with Pachomius but with Abba Bishoy (Pishoy).

HONEST NOTE ON TRADITION: Abba Paul of Tammah (Tamooh) was a 4th–5th century Egyptian desert ascetic commemorated exclusively within the Coptic (Alexandrian) Church and the broader Oriental Orthodox tradition; he does not appear in the Russian Orthodox calendar (not found on pravenc.ru, azbyka.ru, drevo-info.ru, or days.pravoslavie.ru). Given the figure's genuine historicity within a sister (Oriental Orthodox) tradition, the card is left published, with an honest note on his absence from the ROC calendar.

He lived as a hermit on Mount Ansena (modern Minya governorate, Egypt), known for extraordinarily strict fasting; per the Coptic Synaxarium, he broke his fasts only when the Lord Himself appeared and commanded him to eat. Late in life he became close with Abba Bishoy, who visited him at Mount Ansena.

He reposed around 415 AD. His relics were later transferred and rest beside the incorrupt relics of St. Bishoy at the Monastery of St. Bishoy, Wadi El Natrun, Egypt.
