Right-believing Prince Constantine Vsevolodovich of Rostov

Prince of Rostov (from 1207/08), Grand Prince of Vladimir (1216–1218), founder of the dynasty of Rostov princes; the chronicles call him "the Wise" and "the Good".
Right-believing Prince Constantine Vsevolodovich was born on 18 May 1186, son of Grand Prince Vsevolod the Big Nest. He became Prince of Rostov around 1207/1208, and in 1216–1218 Grand Prince of Vladimir. The chronicles describe him as a "Wise" and "Good" ruler, known for his concern for enlightenment: under him, book-learning and schooling flourished in Rostov. He died on 2 February 1218 in Vladimir-on-Klyazma. He is venerated as the founder of the local princely dynasty within the former Rostov diocese, in the Synaxis of Rostov-Yaroslavl Saints.
