A very rare variant of the image of the Theotokos in old Russian iconography, which reached Russia in the 16th–17th centuries, presumably from the Holy Land, hence its name.
Палестинская икона — очень редкий для древнерусской иконописи вариант изображения Пресвятой Богородицы. На Руси он стал известен в XVI–XVII веках; как полагают, образец пришёл из Святой Земли, отчего икона и получила своё название.
